Local Services Ads Bookings in 2026: Why They May Have Switched On by Themselves

Summary: Local Services Ads can take booking requests as well as calls and messages, and in 2026 Google opened bookings up to far more scheduling apps: from about 20 booking partners to more than 500 Reserve with Google partners. If your Google Business Profile already has an active booking link from a partner app, bookings can be switched on for your Local Services Ads automatically. Each booking request is charged as a lead, and a booking the customer cancels isn't eligible for a credit. Bookings can be great for businesses that run on a calendar, but you should check whether yours are on and decide on purpose.

A lot of owners think of Local Services Ads as a phone ad. For a growing number of businesses it's also a booking ad, sometimes without the owner realizing it was switched on.

What changed in 2026

  • Many more booking partners. Google expanded Local Services Ads booking partners from about 20 to more than 500 Reserve with Google partners.
  • Automatic switch-on. If your Business Profile already has an active partner booking link, it can be enabled for your Local Services Ads automatically. No manual linking needed.
  • Bookings are leads. Booking requests are charged as leads, the same way calls and messages are.

Why bookings can be good for you

  • Some customers would rather book than call. Especially outside office hours, or for routine work.
  • More ways to reach you can help your ranking. Google counts having message and booking leads switched on as part of how likely your ad is to get a lead.
  • Less phone tag. A customer who picks a time has already said when they want you.

Why bookings can cost you

  • You pay for each booking request. If your calendar offers slots you can't really fill, or job types you don't want, you pay for requests you'll turn away.
  • Cancelled bookings aren't credited. Google lists a booking the customer cancelled as not eligible for a credit.
  • A slow confirmation loses the job. A booking request still needs a fast, human reply to turn into a real appointment.

Check your settings this week

  1. Look at your leads for booking requests. If you see them and didn't expect them, bookings are on.
  2. Check your scheduling app's Google connection. If your software connects to your Business Profile, it may be the source of the booking link.
  3. Check what customers can book. Make sure the services and time slots on offer are ones you actually want.
  4. Decide on purpose. Keep bookings on if you can confirm fast and your calendar is accurate. Switch them off if they bring requests you can't take.
  5. Confirm every booking quickly. A text or call confirming the time turns a request into a real job.

How bookings fit your numbers

A booking is a lead, so it belongs in the same math as your calls: what it costs, how many book into real paid jobs, and what those jobs are worth. Our free guide, How a local service business can spend $1,000 and make $60,000 in a month, shows how those three numbers work together, with a worksheet for your own figures.
