Google Local Services Ads for Junk Removal Companies: The 2026 Playbook

Summary: Junk removal companies can reach the top of Google for "junk removal near me" with Google Local Services Ads, paying per lead, not per click. Google's US category is "Junk removal services." Opus Group has no junk removal cost-per-lead benchmark, so value leads by your load sizes and track your own prices. Get verified early, switch off what you won't haul and answer fast.
Junk removal is priced by how much of the truck a job fills, and a customer who wants the garage cleared by Saturday won't wait for a Monday callback.
What a junk removal lead is worth, and the math that matters
Opus Group has no junk removal cost-per-lead benchmark, and prices shift with your area, the type of job, the kind of lead and your bidding mode. So work out what a lead is worth, with your own numbers:
| Load size | Example price | Example share of jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Single item | $150 | 30% |
| Quarter truck | $250 | 30% |
| Half truck | $400 | 25% |
| Full truck | $600 | 15% |
That mix averages $310 a job. Close rates vary by trade and lead source, and we haven't measured junk removal separately, so count yours. If 4 in 10 leads book, each lead brings in about $124 ($310 × 40%). That's a ceiling, not a target: labor, fuel, disposal fees and profit come out of it.
Ask every caller what else should go: here, a single item that grows into a quarter truck adds $100. And note which leads booked same-day, because an idle truck afternoon earns nothing.
For a worksheet, see the free guide, How a local service business can spend $1,000 and make $60,000 in a month. The $60,000 in its title is worked math, not a promise.
Google Verified for junk removal
In October 2025, the blue Google Verified badge took the place of Google Guaranteed. Google describes junk removal professionals as those who "remove and dispose or donate appliances, waste, furniture, or other items," and for the US it lists:
- Background checks: "Business check" and "Owner check."
- Insurance: "General liability insurance" and "Professional liability insurance."
- Licenses: "Business license on state level," plus an "Owner license on state level," marked "Where applicable by local law."
Google adds that more requirements may apply by business type and state. No review minimum is listed, though Google recommends at least five reviews and says some business types may need five to show.
Once your documents are in, Google's average wait is three to four weeks. If the brand on your trucks and Business Profile isn't the name on your license and insurance, fix that first; mismatched names cause delays. See our verification checklist.
Which junk jobs to switch on, and which to leave off
Practical advice, not Google's own job type list:
| Work | Keep on if | Switch off if |
|---|---|---|
| Furniture and appliance pickups | Your minimum covers the lead | Rarely; it's core work |
| Garage, basement and estate cleanouts | You can staff multi-load jobs | Crews are booked all week |
| Yard waste and construction debris | Heavy loads pay after disposal fees | Weight or fees eat the margin |
| Hot tubs, sheds and light demolition | You have the tools and people | You'd pass it to someone else |
For anything needing special handling, check your local disposal rules first.
Google has stopped crediting "job type not serviced" and "geo not serviced" leads. Nor will it credit a job you don't do that falls under a service you listed: take furniture but refuse pianos, and the piano call is yours to pay for. Jobs you can't or won't take for now aren't credited either. Switching every job type off won't stop category leads; only pausing does. More on choosing job types.
How to rank above other junk haulers
Your spot depends on your bid and Google's read on your chances of turning a search into a lead, as our ranking guide explains:
- Answer from the truck. Google says your ranking may be affected if you regularly fail to answer calls or messages.
- Post before-and-after photos. Photos feed profile quality, and Google says a higher-quality profile may rank higher and cost less per lead.
- Say what you take and where it goes. Relevance counts, including your services and bio, and Google's category description mentions donating: say if you donate or recycle.
- Switch on messages and bookings. They can make a lead more likely, Google says, especially on nights and weekends.
- Ask every customer for a review once the space is clear. Google's policy bans incentives and asking only happy customers.
Bad junk removal leads and what to do
Invalid or low-quality leads spotted at first contact cost nothing, and charged ones can be credited automatically after a second look. Flag the others through "Rate this lead"; any credit reaches your balance inside 30 days, though the invoice keeps showing the original charge.
- "How much for a full truck?" then silence. Price research isn't credited, and neither is a caller who goes quiet after you call back. Give a range and ask for a photo.
- "Can you drop off a dumpster?" Referring the caller to a dumpster company earns no credit.
- "Will you pick up my donations for free?" Explain your pricing; rate it if it wasn't a job request.
- Out-of-area and after-hours leads. Neither is creditable, so serve only towns where a trip pays and list hours you answer.
Turning junk removal calls into booked pickups
The free guide's rule: "Reply within 60 seconds, every time." A photo is the quickest route to a price:
- "[Company], [Name] here. What needs to go, and is it curbside, in the garage or upstairs?"
- "One item, a pickup-truck load or a garage full? Can you text a photo to this number?"
- "We price by how much of the truck it fills. That usually runs [your range], and the crew confirms before loading."
- "We have [today at time] or [tomorrow at time]. Which works?"
- "Anything else you'd like gone while we're there?"
If you miss the call, text back: "[Company] here, it's [Name]. Sorry, we were mid-pickup. Text a photo of what's going and your ZIP code, and I'll send a price range and today's open times."

What changed for junk removal in 2026
Three updates, as of September 2026:
- Missed-call billing starts October 1, 2026. From that date, Google charges for a business-hours missed call when the caller waits on the line for over 20 seconds, with some exceptions, and if that first call isn't charged, valid follow-ups can be. A crew carrying a sofa can't answer, so decide now who does.
- Accounts are shifting into Google Ads. Google has moved accounts to Performance Max based campaigns wave by wave since August 2026; junk removal isn't in its first-phase list. When yours moves, the weekly budget converts to an average daily budget (divided by seven), and monthly spend can't exceed 30.4 times that. Manual bidding goes, one campaign-level target CPA takes over, and your leads appear under Goals > Conversions > Leads. Past reports won't transfer, so save them first.
- More ways to book online. Google widened bookings in 2026 from about 20 partner apps to more than 500, all Reserve with Google partners, and if a scheduling app already puts an active booking link on your Business Profile, Google can switch bookings on automatically. Each booking is charged as a lead and a canceled one isn't credited, so check the pickup windows on offer. See bookings in 2026.
FAQ
Is junk removal eligible for Google Local Services Ads?
Yes. "Junk removal services" is one of Google's US categories, though it isn't offered everywhere, so check eligibility for your area.
What do Local Services Ads cost a junk removal company?
No fixed price: your area, the job, the lead type and your bidding mode all move it. Opus Group has no junk removal benchmark, so track your own cost per booked job.
Will Google credit a lead for items I don't haul?
Usually not, if it falls under a service you listed, so say plainly what you don't take.
Should I pause my ads when the trucks are full?
